Tristen (and I) taught Marshall a new trick: how to make a “One!”
First snow experience
One year ago today
Dr S informed us Marshall had Heterotaxy.
Just eight and a half weeks after the wild boys and I had this talk by the creek.
I remember the absolute terror I felt after that “Heterotaxy Diagnosis” appointment with Dr S.
How I called my mom hysterical in the car on the way home.
How once I got home I cried some more. For weeks. As I scoured the universe (and Internet) looking for information only to find that everything about Heterotaxy was vague and so very, very grim. Imagine sitting just 7 weeks out from giving birth and finding out your baby’s chances with HLHS were 80% in his favor and then dropping to 35% if he could even survive getting out of your body.
And then more and more tests. And more and more scary wacky pregnancy related discoveries.
And soooo many, many tears.
And soooooo much gratitude.
Then Marshall Conor Sepello was born SCREAMING…
And he went through more than any person should ever have to.
And then he sat in our kitchen snacking, laughing, singing, and high chair dancing to his dad playing guitar:

Some Sunday Morning Reading
So Big
Marshall’s first trip to Geneva
Marshall not only got to make new friends but also got to visit their BOOKSTORE, see his first Christmas tree (sorry for the blurry shot I was much too interested in seeing his reaction 😉 ) and enjoy a nice dinner out!
If you are ever in Geneva, please GO TO STOMPING GROUNDS!! It is AMAZING and its owners are incredible people!!
Soooo thankful ❤
His happiness is as contagious
Giving Thanks
There’s this thing going around Facebook where people post something they are thankful for every day.
I just don’t have the time to participate. My facebook usage is erratic at best.
So I just need to tell the world how thankful I am for my mom…who had me November 4 many, many years ago.
Without her I wouldn’t be here.
Without her support I would be lost.
Without her love I wouldn’t survive.
Not enough words
Being a mom is a tough job. Being a mom of four wild boys and one with a heart condition is definitely not easy.
Being mom to all of them plus being sick for over a week has been super hard.
And when 6 out of 6 of your family members fall ill, everything else kind of falls with it as your heart yearns to make them all better.
I would rather suffer and hurt than to see anyone I love, especially my kids, have to.
Apparently my wonderful cousin, her family, her church, and several community members sensed and fulfilled our needs this week. We received all of these wonderful donations yesterday when my spirits were feeling more sunken than they had felt in ages.
My. Goodness. I. Can. Not. Thank. Them. Enough. (And I can not wait to return the favor if I am ever presented with the opportunity to.)
Happy tears :-…)
