Stronger Every Day

The good news is Marshall’s labs came back fine yesterday.

There’s no real reason to keep us here especially since Marshall has steadily gotten stronger every day.

So we are…drumroll please: GOING HOME!

Unless…Marshall’s labs at 12:30 p.m. come back weird.

Which is always possible.

Fingers crossed. I have three big wild boys I ABSOLUTELY CANNOT WAIT TO GET MY ARMS AROUND ❤

Fever

So Marshall threw a curve in the path to get home.

He has a fever.

I hope he is just teething… since he keeps biting me this is a possible cause.

And I refuse to consider other causes…so please send big thoughts and/or prayers to our littlest man.

Echo went well!!

There were no surprises other than Marshall woke up when the sedation shpuld have taken hold.

There were a couple of concerns regarding where the veins return (something they will monitor closely) and the function (which hasn’t changed much).

But everything looks good.

If the team can optimize his meds, we could be on our way home soon…like tomorrow night soon.

Hope with me please…fourteen and a half weeks in this place is plenty for one year!

Please send big thoughts

Marshall’s echo is in 45 minutes.  Send big thoughts/prayers/whatever you can spare to our little fighting miracle.

Every bit helps so much.

As for how he is doing, he is grumpy today (which is nothing unusual since his body needs time to adjust to the new circulation).  This morning he had the last of the wires removed.  He also had his incision checked by the skin team.  There are a few areas of concern (please please hope with all of your might it isn’t an infection. )  And he started this weird gagging that could be the combination of teething drool and all of the equipment shoved down his throat the past week.

I hope.

He leaves for a sedated echo in a half hour.

Here’s to hope that Marshall is ok and that we can get home soon.

I miss my big boys so very, very, very much.

Deep breath, Rebecca…

Marshall’s fire is coming back

Thankfully Marshall’s fiery and feisty this morning.  He is back to screaming at staff when they attempt to help him.

And he is raking his hands and fishing with his fingertips pull what’s left of their bandages, tubes, & instruments.

So after the nurse, floor doc, & marshall went a round this morning over an I.V. removal and dressing change, I bet his nurse $5 bucks he pulls his oxygen and n.g. before they do 😉

So far, Marshall is winning 🙂

Thank. Goodness. ❤

Progressing so well

Dr. Friedman stopped by yesterday after Marshall kicked his atrial lines and moved over to the floor.

Even Dr. Friedman agreed “Marshall is progressing so well.”

Yesterday he made lots of progress despite being quite irritable and out of it.  He lost his chest drains, then had chest xrays (which looked good), they lowered the amount of oxygen they are giving him, and they moved from continuous to bolus (all at once) feeds through his n.g. tube.

Then at around 9:30 or so Marshall began eating eating (no more pumping!)

And he did well through last night.

His nurse managed to turn his oxygen down even more while we were snoozing.

So he is pretty much recovering Marshall-style: powering through with profound stregth.

And per a conversation with Dr. Baird “It is reasonable to be thinking we will be HOME BY FRIDAY OR SOONER!!” (Direct quote minus the caps 😉 )

I honestly can not wait.  I miss my big boys so very, very much.  And would give nearly anything to have these four boys of mine together.

Plus I have a lot of people to thank for the amazing support shown through all of the good thoughts & prayers, the benefit, donations, and thousands of kindnesses we so incredibly luckily received.

SOOO many thanks it brings tears to my eyes ♡

Worth the wait

But so pleased to say I AM MINUTES AWAY FROM HOLDING MY BABY AGAIN!!

Marshall worked hard today.  And he made his nurse work even harder.  They ditched his vent, his femoral and arterial lines, and decreased a bunch of his i.v. meds to make room for his oral meds.

Little steps,  big progress.

and soooo very thankful…
