A decade ago today, Marsh was admitted to Upstate for severe heart failure.
He was so sick that I could barely share the devastation I felt with anyone – not even my closest friends.
He was so, so, sooooooo sick.
But still he smiled.
Life became really, really terrifying after that day and diagnosis. Days after this picture was taken he had his third heart cath, a pair of strokes in the left side of his brain, Boston delivered a very grim prognosis, and his first summer was lost to an almost nine week hospital stay 300 miles away from his brothers, our families, our friends, and our home.
Those days were so dark but Marsh’s incredible strength and the massive outpouring of support from so many people during that time made things brighter in a way that forever changed our lives.
Remembering all of it brings back so much within my own heart that it still seeps from my eyes a decade later.
It is impossible for me to adequately express my profound gratitude for every day since. Thankful just isn’t enough β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ
