Four Weeks!

marshall

Four weeks ago today Marshall went into the OR with Dr Baird, Dr Friedman, and the Boston team.

Little did we know when we did that (still makes my heart just ache and eyes tear to think about) 2:00 p.m. dread-filled pass off of a grumpy, hungry, semi-sedated, yet still yelling spitfire just how much he would go through. And how quickly he would recover.

Marshall’s scars are still fresh. But they are just scars now (in gross news, he lost the last scab from a chest drain this morning…ewww).

In Marshall’s skin is a story deeply woven in all of our hearts.

A story of a little boy who continues to just amaze us all. Yes world, he takes names and captures hearts ๐Ÿ˜‰ .

Despite what he lacks in size, he makes up for it in absolute strength. No one should have to go what this little boy has gone through. But he has…all with a smile or a laugh. And it’s an honor to be his and his brothers’ mama. The weeks since we have been home have been absolutely crazy. And busy. And just plain work. But my goodness, having all four of my boys together is worth more than all of the money in the world to me.

Oh and last week Marshall hit three milestones:

He sprouted his first tooth. (And his second will be in any minute now.)

He showed us that two open heart surgeries may have temporarily halted his full rolling capabilities so he decided to sit up. Alone. Unassisted. ๐Ÿ™‚

And he had one entire week free of appointments, trips to doctors, therapies, and tests. When dealing with a critically ill kid with a complex heart condition, this, my dears, is a HUGE accomplishment.

Every day is a battle but every day with Marshall is a win.

I can not thank everyone enough for helping us every step of the way.

I am so entirely grateful for the skill of the team, the support of our families and friends, and the hundreds, if not thousands, who have sent a prayer and/or good thought Marshall’s way (please keep sending them if possible!)

My. Goodness. Thank. You. So. Much. โค
