Dr Friedman just stopped by before he left for a week on Nantucket (LUCKY!!) and was really, REALLY optimistic. He “wanted to be sure to stop in case [we] were not here when he came back.”
Direct. Quote. π
Soooo, I asked one hundred questions (I won’t bore you with the details) and my interrogation came down to this:
Dr. Friedman has not ever seen a kid in severe heart failure respond to meds as well as Marshall has. π
They have dropped an i.v. med to the lowest level and will do tests next week to find out if he can get completely off of it. So getting back HOME may not be as far off as I had thought (maybe just maybe)!!
And if we can’t get there, we may be able to get to Upstate in a few weeks or less.
It all depends on Marshall.
Since the i.v. medications have decreased, Marshall’s placement on the transplant list (which officially started earlier today) has already been changed to a 1b. What this means is much sicker kids with more time on the list would receive a heart before Marshall.
But it also means he is healthy enough to not need as much medicine π
So please keep the prayers and good thoughts coming. They may have worked better than anything else so far… and we can’t thank you enough for that.
