The heat is on…

And Marshall isn’t much of a fan of these warm temperatures. Luckily, he is not as cranky as he could be since I have not had previous experience mothering one so small in summer months.

Plus our little miracle is dealing with much, much more than most. His oxygen saturations were wacky last week. I kind of hoped it was our machine. Or bad timing. Or our wild, full week running to appointments, errands, and practice.

It apparently was not the case. Marshall’s weight gain stopped, though he didn’t lose and held his own (since I had a bug which may have impacted his input). Then after four days, overnight it jumped. Significantly.

I’m hanging on to the hope that it could be him just catching up but it could mean other much more malicious things I won’t mention.

So I emailed Dr. Friedman. Then while waiting for his response I received an unnerving letter from our hometown cardiologist.

Again, it’s the spleen. After reviewing the reports, the team here thinks because of situs invertus (if you don’t know what it is, look here ) what they thought was an enlarged spleen was actually what they think is his liver.

And they want to repeat the test at Crouse.

[Insert a few foul words now. Starving our baby again to have him undergo more poking and prodding is last on my list of things I want for him.]

SO…this leaves me thankful that we continued the prophylactic Amoxicillin despite differing opinions between the hometown and Boston teams. And relieved my instincts were right.

And, as always, supremely grateful for the time we have with Marshall.

The three big boys are home for spring break so when we returned from the park Dr Friedman had responded to my email about Marshall’s weight. He wants to give him a week to see what happens.

And he wants us back in July or August for Round 2 unless Marshall decides sooner…

Please send good thoughts if you have any to spare. Try as I may, the fight between worrying and not worrying only leaves one winner…
