Today’s the day

Last week was so hectic I didn’t get the chance to report that Marshall saw his pediatrician for a follow up after our big Upstate Break.

All things considered, he was exactly as he was supposed to be.  His lungs were full of crackling gunk and his “well baby” appointment went as well as most two month appointments go.

They weighed, measured, and marked their findings.

He screamed.

I signed away more of my financial future by requesting those infamous Synagis shots ($1300 a pop…for the entire 7 months of RSV season).

And we went on to discuss the Great Immunization Debate. I relayed to our pediatrician all of details of that uncomfortable conversation with Dr. Infectious Disease at Upstate.  And also discussed my hesitancy (to better understand this, look up the endings of other heart babies stories who get their immunizations and…I can’t even mention it).

I am not on “the anti-immunization team.” In fact,  the measles outbreaks in Ohio and New York rattled me further.

I am on “the make informed decisions” team.

Which makes today really hard.

Marshall goes for his second post Upstate follow up.

And he will be getting some of his immunizations if his doctor feels he is healthy enough.

Per his teams both here and in Boston,  it has to be done. Trust me, I grilled both before getting to today.

Per my mama bear instincts, his immunizations will be done on HIS schedule…despite this nagging, unexplainable trepidation I feel.

Dear god let this be the right decision…
